This title reminded me of my children’s enjoyment in various dress-up costumes. This one might be my favorite. We say ‘blessing in disguise’ because we find that God blesses people after they undertake something hard….raising children certainly fits into that category!

The picture below is of Vivian, age 2 (unless asked–she responds with fingers shown, “I’m 3…and 5”) A couple cute stories of her: At breakfast, she said to me, “Dad, I like you………” and I started to say, ‘how sweet’ but was cut off by the rest of her sentence, “to go away”. My wife saved the day later by sharing that Vivian meant that she likes me to go places and likes to go with me. Good save, Betsy, good save.

Vivian was recounting a vivid account to a friend recently. “I cried at Lexi’s baptism.” Yes, she did–she wouldn’t stay in the bench but had to be carried by her parents behind the pulpit and up into the baptismal area. Right after Lexi was baptized, Vivian began crying and we had to set her in a place out of view and earshot from the 300 onlookers!! Vivian followed up by saying, “and I was fake crying!”
